1. Read handout “Introduction to Geography”
2. Create an identity chart for Geography, based on the reading
3. Your identity chart should include: visual(s), symbol(s), words,color (don’t use lined paper!)

What materials do you need?

A. Binder – 3 ring, ½-2 inch size

B. White lined paper – 3 hole punched

C. 8 Binder dividers

D. Pencils, pens

E. Eraser and pencil sharpener

F. Ruler

How should your binder be set up?

A. Outside of Binder:

1. Front Cover – a page with your name, teacher’s and class name, a visual

B. Inside of Binder:

1. Table of contents

2. Seven different sections separated with dividers labeled as follow:

1. Class rules/Information

2. Tools of Geography

3. United States

4. Latin America

5. Europe

6. Africa

7. Asia

8. Oceania/Antarctica

How is your grade calculated? How can you check it?

A. Tests/quizzes = 30%

B. Classwork= 30%

C. Homework = 20%

D. Binder/Agenda =10%

E. Participation = 10%

F. Check your grades online at www.sis.mybps.org

What is Class work? Where does it go?

A. Includes everything you write in class - do now and after

B. Includes any worksheets you work on

C. Should be dated and organized in chronological order

D. Include titles (ex: do now, notes, rules, reflection, etc)

E. All class work (reflection, etc) goes in your binder

How should you set up the Homework? Where does it go?

A. Include your name, date, title and directions at the top of the page

B. Should be dated and organized in chronological order

C. All homework goes in your binder

D. Should be turned in to teacher on time for full credit

E. 50% or Half credit is assigned if late one day (lunch/academic detention)

F. 0% for homework that is more than 2 days late

G. If absent your homework is due the day you return to school

When do you have Tests/Quizzes?

A. After each chapter or unit of study

B. Should be signed by parent/guardian

C. Should be dated and organized in chronological order, in your binder

What should you do if you’re absent?

A. Check the class site for any missed work

B. Complete all work that was previously assigned

C. Bring a note when you come back to school

D. Check in with teacher for missed work

E. Turn in all your missed work the day after you come back
